48 hours compendium

Monday Feb 13, 2006 · Categories: Development.-

The launch of our website and the traffic generated has been amazing during the past 48hours. We didn't expect the site to be in the top Del.icio.us popular links, and we didn't have time during our first 48hours to get special screenshots about the situation, anyhow, our friend Walter managed to do so.

We didn't expect neither being listed in sites like Listible, Diggdot, Populicious. The same happens with Feedburner and our 396 readers through feed. Also Stylegala and Newstoday helped us becoming an unusable website.

We didn't expect having 200 submissions within the last 48 hours

We didn't expect having 200 submissions within the last 48 hours, and even the script taking care of updating each screenshot got mad during a couple of hours. That's what Betatesting is for, but we were overwhelmed and all our "ideas" became unuseful.

Last but not least. Our beloved Hosting provider cut off our hosting during 30 minutes due to the amount of traffic generated within the first 5 hours. Too much for us, too much for the server. But we were not worried about that at all.

But we are not finished yet. Our cache for Movable Type was working perfectly, but the server said he could not handle everything at the same time, so it fucked up. Then, at the same time, we have you in the other side of the world using our form telling us your name was not correctly set in the screenshots. The server couldn't do everything on its own (we want you to keep on submitting stuff).

Now the things are back to normal, and we want them to be like this. Thanks a lot for your support, your nice words, your kindness and your patience. We learned with all those issues, and today monday we love our wives more, some of us haven't seen them and payed attention to them for the last 48 hours. We will tonight.
